10 steps

About 1 hr+ drying time. The numbers match the sheet in your box.

  1. Two hands peeling the plastic wrap off a cookie piece

Step 1: Unwrap the cookie pieces

Peel the plastic wrap off every cookie piece and lay them flat on a clean table.

TIPTry not to nibble them just yet!

  2. Two frosting bags: a big snip for the glue bag and a tiny snip for the decorating bag

Step 2: Get the frosting bags ready

Snip a tiny tip off the decorating bag and a bigger tip off the glue bag.

TIPA grown-up should handle the scissors.

  3. A hand opening the candy bags next to the cookie pieces

Step 3: Open the candy toppings

Open the candy and sort it into little piles so everything is easy to grab.

TIPThis is your design, plan where things go.

  4. Piping frosting onto a flat cookie wall piece

Step 4: Frost each cookie piece

With the decorating bag, pipe frosting onto one piece at a time. Swirls, zigzags, dots, anything you like.

TIPWork on one piece at a time so it stays neat.

  5. Pressing candies into the soft frosting on a wall piece

Step 5: Stick on your candies

Press candies into the frosting while it is still soft, then let each piece set.

Wait 10 min: let the pieces dry before you build

  6. Piping glue frosting along the edge where the front wall meets a side wall

Step 6: Glue the front wall

Pipe glue frosting along the side edges of the front piece, then press a side wall onto each edge.

TIPHold gently for a moment so they grab.

  7. Gluing the back wall onto the open ends of the side walls

Step 7: Add the back wall

Glue the edges of the back piece and press it onto the open ends of the side walls. Four walls, done!

TIPLet the box settle before the roof goes on

  8. Piping glue along the top edges and setting the roof pieces on

Step 8: Put the roof on top

Pipe glue along the top edges, set both roof pieces on, and hold for 30 seconds.

Wait 15 min: let it set before you decorate

  9. Adding leftover candy and icing to the roof of the built house

    Step 9: Finishing touches

Add icing and any leftover candy. Dots, drips, snowy drifts, patterns, make it yours.

TIPStart at the top and work your way down.

  10. The finished gingerbread house on its snowy display tray with the gingerbread man and Santa

Step 10: Show everyone what you made

Set it on the display tray and call everyone over. You built a real gingerbread house.

If something goes sideways

Quick fixes for the usual wobbles.

A wall feels wobbly

Hold it a little longer and it will lock in place. The frosting works like glue, so the longer you wait, the stronger it gets.

The frosting is stiff or lumpy

Massage the pouch for 1 minute before you pipe. It comes out nice and smooth.

The roof keeps sliding

Let the four walls settle before the roof goes on. Then pipe glue along the top edges, hold both roof pieces for 30 seconds, and wait 15 minutes before you decorate.

The candy won’t stick

Press candy in while the frosting is still soft. If it has already dried, pipe a fresh dot of frosting and press the candy into that.

Questions

Is the gingerbread actually edible?

Yes. It’s fresh-baked and vacuum-sealed. Most families display their house through the holidays before eating it.

How long does it last?

On display at room temperature it holds up for 3 to 4 weeks. Check the Best Before date printed on the box. Once opened, keep any leftover gingerbread in an airtight container.

What age is this for?

Ages 8 and up, with younger helpers welcome alongside an adult. It contains small candy parts, so it’s not for children under 3.

What if a piece breaks in shipping?

Email support@livaclean.com with a photo and we will make it right.

What makes the glue frosting hold?

It’s a thicker frosting made for building. Pipe it along the seams, hold for a moment, and it grips.

What about allergies?

Allergy advice: Contains wheat, soy. Manufactured in a facility that processes milk, egg, peanut and tree nuts (almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts), sesame seed.

The Santa figure (icing figure) contains pork gelatin. The full ingredient list is printed on the box. Boxes sold outside the US can list allergens differently, so always check the label on your box.
